Tom Ford launches men’s skin care range
At the start of this month fashion designer Tom Ford made his eagerly awaited skin care range available for consumers to buy. The range is targeted at men only but features products that are also seen on women’s shelves, including two cosmetic products.
The launch of a skincare range is a move that makes sense for the fashion designer – as well as being simply a way to increase his brand (and therefore sales), he is well known for his commitment to style and grooming, citing his own personal regime as his inspiration for his products.
The product range includes hydrating lip balm, intensive moisturisers, purifying cleanser, revitalising concentrate, purifying gel and illuminating serum. Prices start at around £18 for the lip balm and up to £165 for his intensive moisturiser. He has also added two cosmetic products to the line – concealer, which comes in three different shades, and a bronzing gel for a subtle, sun-kissed glow.
On the subject of make-up for men, the stylish star sees no issue with it and instead believes that, “fine grooming is the mark of a modern gentleman.” How many will take it up remains to be seen but it certainly a trend that is becoming acceptable for some, with around 1 in 10 UK men revealing they sometimes use concealer.
It also mirrors a more general trend of men becoming more interesting in personal grooming and beauty. The fastest-rising demographic for those who seek non-invasive cosmetic treatment such as Botox or fillers, are men.
