Thread Veins – more common than you think
One of the more common procedures carried out at Aurora Clinics is Thread Vein Removal. It occurs in almost 50% of 50 year olds.
For most, they are embarrassing, affecting mainly the face, body and legs. Those people who wish to have them removed often opt for thread vein removal which comes in the form of lasers.
Sclerotherapy is a non surgical treatment which is done by a registered nurse and they will make you a treatment programme to fit your own needs. It takes around half an hour to an hour, using a thin needle to inject a solution into the vein, causing it to disappear after a course of treatments. It is recommended to have about four treatments, depending on the areas you are having done.
Once you have undergone a thread vein removal, the veins will become red and swollen but you will not feel any pain. Any reactions such as blistering will vanish within a few days if not a few hours. After care should consist of plenty of moisturising and keeping the affected area away from sunlight.
The veins will take around two months to completely disappear, but you will start noticing them fade over the first few days.
