Aftercare & Side Effects of Botox Injections

What are the side effects of Botox Injections?

Side effects of Botox injections can occur but they are generally very mild. Common side effects are:

  • Minor swelling
  • Headaches
  • Bruising around the injection sites

These symptoms are usually mild and best treated with over-the-counter pain relief. To minimise the chance of bruising we recommend that you do not drink alcohol for a week prior to receiving the treatment as alcohol can enhance bruising. Most patients find that by the next morning, there are no visible side effects.

Botox Aftercare Instructions

After treatment, some patients prefer to rest for the remainder of the day but within 24 hours of treatment most patients resume normal activities. It is advisable, however, to avoid working out or playing sports for a few days post-treatment. You can also help activate the Botox by gently exercising the muscles that have been treated i.e frown and smile as frequently as possible.

If you are concerned  about any of these side effects of Botox or are unhappy with your treatment you are able to return to the clinic for a free of charge review 2-3 weeks post-treatment.
