Newly single Gwyneth Paltrow reveals her beauty routine. She hasn’t really got one.

Beautiful skinShe may have just announced her split  – sorry, “conscious uncoupling” – from husband Chris Martin, but Gwyneth Paltrow is not the kind of gal to sit around feeling sorry for herself.

The actor, mother of two and owner of popular lifestyle website Goop has plenty more irons in the fire.

She’s just been announced as the face of natural skincare brand Restorsea, and this week sat down for a green tea and a chinwag with E! Online about her ultra low-maintenance approach to looking after her skin.

When asked how important it was to use natural skincare, she admitted that though she tries to go natural wherever possible, she doesn’t completely avoid ‘unnatural’ interventions – citing laser treatment for sunspots as an example.

Her beauty routine

When it comes to skin products and cosmetics, Gwynnie did say she uses only natural ingredients – but not many, if her daily routine is anything to go by.

When asked to describe her beauty routine, she said:

“After I drop my kids, I always exercise and then I take a shower and I basically just put on moisturiser – and that’s kind of it. If I have a meeting or something I’ll put on some mascara, but that’s as far as I go”.

When pressed by an incredulous E! about her lack of slap, she replied “No, I just never do. I’ve been getting my makeup put on for me since I was 20 years-old, so I never learned how to do it, and I’m really bad at it.”

Gwyneth’s secret skin weapons

She went on to share a couple of tips that she swears by – and looking at her undeniably peachy skin, we have to say we’re sold.

Firstly, she extols the virtue of exercise for making the skin glow:

“For me, doing some cardiovascular exercise every day is really good for my skin – for detoxification and skin tone and color.”

And secondly – coconut oil. She uses it on her face, in her cooking, and swills around her mouth for 20 minutes at a time. The latter being an ancient beauty technique (“oil pulling”) that’s apparently “great for oral health and making your teeth white”.

It’s easy to be cynical, but when all is said and done – when you look at her, it’s very hard to deny that Gwyneth’s alternative approach seems to be paying dividends.
