How long do dermal fillers last?
Not the fickle here-one-minute, gone-the-next type of lines they were a few years ago. Now, they’ve decided to get their slippers on, make some hot cocoa and stay put.
If you’ve got persistent lines and you’d like to get shot of them, or at least make them less intrusive, you’re in luck. We have the technology.
Dermal filler treatment
Dermal fillers are the world’s second-most-popular non-surgical treatment, after wrinkle-relaxing injections.
They’re made from hyaluronic acid (a safe, naturally occurring substance in the body), suspended in a gel. When injected underneath the skin, they can plump up wrinkles, deep grooves and hollows by replacing volume that has been lost due to the ageing process.
Fillers are excellent for improving the appearance of laughter and smile lines, crow’s feet and deep creases, as well as adding volume to cheeks and lips if needed.
And because they’re injected directly into the area/s to be treated, you’ll be delighted to notice an immediate improvement after treatment.
It must be said, however, that you might experience a little bruising, redness and/or swelling for a day or two after treatment. For this reason, you should always factor in recovery time before any big events.
Sounds great – but how long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers last anywhere from 6 to 12 months, depending on the area treated and the individual. If you’re injected around the mouth or other areas that see a lot of movement, the treatment will have a shorter lifespan.
This is because the muscle movement speeds up the breakdown of the product. Likewise, if you have a naturally faster metabolism, you’re likely to break down the product more quickly.
With repeated treatments, however, the benefits of dermal fillers will build up and the results should last longer.
