Chemical skin peels – what can they treat?
Chemical skin peels are a great way to improve the texture and appearance of the skin.
They can be used to treat a variety of conditions and imperfections in the skin, leaving it looking and feeling smoother, clearer and refreshed.
Not only good for the skin on the face, chemical peels can also be used to improve the appearance of skin on the neck, décolletage and hands – areas which are often exposed to the sun and therefore prone to sun damage.
Skin peels can be used very successfully to improve the following:
- Fine lines
- Sun damage
- Large pores
Many people are a little put off by the name, thinking the treatment will be harsh or painful, but this is not the case – however daunting the words ‘chemical’ and ‘peel’ sound!
While the solution used in the procedure is an acid solution, it is very dilute. So, though it is likely your skin will feel warm and tingle while the solution is on your skin, it will not ‘burn’.
For your comfort, a cooling fan will be held over your face during the treatment to counter the heating effect produced by the solution – and the solution is only left on your skin for a few minutes, after which it is removed and cool water is applied to the skin.
