BAAPS calls for new regulations on anti-wrinkle treatment

Botox injectionsThe British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has called for regulation on all anti-wrinkle treatments that require injections, for example Botox or dermal fillers.

They would like to see injections re-classified as medicine in order to standardise regulation for the industry, including introducing minimum requirements for those who administer it.

President of BAAPS Rajiv Grover believes this will help regulate what goes in to dermal fillers and also help consumers to understand what goes in them. He also believes that a useful by-product of this move will include a ban on advertising for such treatments.

These suggestions were raised during the Keogh review of cosmetic surgery and procedures, where potential improvements to the industry are discussed.
