Are facials worth the expense?
So what exactly does a facial claim to achieve and is it worth the cost?
There is a multitude of facials available at varying costs but usually between £30 and £90 and lasting approximately 30 minutes, or longer if intense. They cater for a wide range of skin types and desired outcomes, so for example a deep cleanse for spotty skin or a revitalising lift for ageing skin.
The facial will usually consist of a gentle extraction, application of appropriate products and a face, neck and shoulder massage.
How effective you will find the facial will depend on your expectations. They tend to have a superficial effect that lasts for a couple of days and the best results will be found after getting facials regularly.
So if you are looking for an immediate short-term effect and a small improvement on the condition of your skin in the longer term then you will probably find them satisfactory.
If you are looking for a fix for acne, acne scarring, pigmentation or permanent wrinkles then you may walk away disappointed.
Facials also offer a pampering experience however and allow you half an hour or more to unwind, have a massage and walk away with smoother or softer skin.
There is a chance you can achieve the same results on your face through purchasing and using deep treatments at home but if you are happy to pay for this effect whilst benefiting from the relaxing experience then it will probably be for you.
